The Department of History at National P.G. College is dedicated to fostering critical thinking, research orientation, and interdisciplinary learning among students. The department offers a UPSC-oriented and concept-driven syllabus designed to build strong analytical and writing skills. It actively integrates the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) to make learning more rooted and contextually relevant. Emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary approaches, linking history with fields such as Archaeology & Heritage studies. The department also focuses on career readiness by promoting Internships and Practical exposure through collaborations and MoUs with history-centric institutions. In addition, it offers Market-Oriented courses to align academic learning with evolving professional demands. With a strong emphasis on research and experiential learning, the department prepares students for Academia, Civil Services, and diverse career pathways.

Dr. Akriti Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at National P.G. College, affiliated with the University of Lucknow. She holds a Ph.D., M.Phil., and Master’s degree in History from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Her academic specialization lies in eighteenth-century Indian history and educational studies, with a growing focus on public history, memory studies, and interdisciplinary research methodologies.
