The Department of Psychology was established in 1979 with undergraduate programs, marking the beginning of its academic journey. After 27 years of sustained commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, the department expanded its academic offerings by introducing a Master’s degree program, with a strong emphasis on practical training and research orientation. Currently, the department offers three-year and four-year Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) along with one year and two year Master of Arts (M.A.) in Psychology. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to integrate theoretical understanding with practical application, ensuring the holistic development of students. The department strives to create an engaging and academically enriching environment. It is equipped with a dedicated departmental library housing more than 350 books, along with a well-equipped laboratory featuring over 112 modern psychological tools and instruments to facilitate experiential learning. The department also operates an active counseling cell that provides free counseling and psycho-education services. This initiative supports not only students from all streams but also faculty members, contributing to overall mental well-being and awareness within the institution.

Jagriti Shukla is a distinguished psychologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at National Post Graduate College, Lucknow. With over two decades of expertise, she holds a PhD focusing on occupational stress and organizational commitment, along with SLET. Beyond academia, Dr. Shukla is a versatile professional serving as an interview expert and recruitment panel member for HPCL, including selections at IIT Kanpur. She is a dedicated educator and academic counselor for IGNOU, frequently sharing her insights as a mental health commentator on prominent news platforms. Deeply committed to community welfare, she has provided specialized counseling to UP Police personnel under the 112 Emergency Service and offered vital public support during the pandemic. Her robust background in various areas of psychology continues to bridge the gap between academic excellence and social and community impact.

Dr. Nehashree is an accomplished academician and Assistant Professor of Psychology at National PG College, Lucknow, with over 15 years of teaching experience in UG and PG.A Gold Medalist in Psychology, she was awarded the prestigious Chancellor’s Medal as the Best Woman Candidate from the University of Lucknow, along with the Dr. Chakravarty Gold Medal for outstanding social engagement and exemplary conduct. She holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology, with her doctoral research focusing on Divyang (persons with disabilities). During the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked extensively for mental health awareness through media and social platforms and collaborated with Dial 112 (U.P. Police), earning multiple awards and appreciation letters.She is a recipient of Innovative counselor award ,Ignou Mitra award Shikshak shree samman 2024 and approx 40 awards in the field of academics,Music ,literature and social work. She has published 35 research papers, authored two books, and explores interdisciplinary areas like Raag-Mantra Therapy and Psychology with Astrology. She is also a certified Jyotish scholar (Martand, Diwakar) and a Music Therapist. She serves as Assistant Coordinator and Academic Counselor at IGNOU, actively working for youth and women’s mental well-being.
