Department at a Glance
The Department of Statistics was established in 2005 under the Faculty of Science at National P.G. College. It offers two undergraduate programmes: B.Sc. and B.A. The department is known for its innovative and rigorous curriculum, which effectively blends theoretical knowledge with practical application. This approach helps develop students’ analytical and inferential skills through a combination of classroom learning, intensive practical assignments, and exposure to hands-on training during their studies. Its key strengths include experienced faculty, high-quality teaching, a supportive academic environment, proficiency in advanced computational software, and a well-equipped computer laboratory. Since its inception, the department has regularly organized academic events such as workshops, webinars, and special lectures at both national and international levels. Statistics is the science of learning from data. Our department is committed to providing students with a strong foundation in statistical theory and practical skills in data analysis, interpretation, and modeling. We offer a comprehensive curriculum that covers mathematics, statistics, and modern statistical applications. Our programs are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for successful careers in statistics, data science, and related fields.

Dr. Nishi Rastogi
Dr. Nishi Rastogi is currently serving as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Statistics at National P.G. College, a position she has held since 2009. She brings over 25 years of rich teaching experience in higher education, with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student development. An enthusiastic and dedicated educator, Dr. Rastogi is known for creating engaging, inclusive, and learner-centric classroom environments. She actively integrates innovative and technology-driven pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning outcomes and foster a positive academic culture. Dr. Rastogi earned her Ph.D. in 2002 from the University of Lucknow, specializing in Econometrics and Sampling Techniques. A university rank holder and recipient of a National Scholarship, she has consistently demonstrated academic distinction, including securing top position in her postgraduate studies in Statistics. She is actively involved in research and has contributed to several national and international journals. In addition to her academic and research accomplishments, she has demonstrated strong leadership in curricular and co-curricular initiatives, including faculty coordination and the successful organization of academic events. Dr. Rastogi possesses excellent communication, organizational, and mentoring skills. She remains deeply committed to nurturing critical thinking, promoting academic rigor, and supporting the holistic development of students.

Dr. Raksoni Gupta
Dr. Raksoni Gupta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics with over 16 years of teaching and research experience. She completed her Ph.D. in 2015 from the University of Lucknow on the topic “Few Contributions to Statistical Estimation with Reference to Finite Sampling Theory.” She qualified the UGC-NET examination in 2012. Dr. Gupta has published more than 18 research papers in various international and national journals. Her areas of expertise include Sampling Techniques and Statistical Inference.
